Beyond the Game
The game brings us together, but the mission goes beyond the court. The J.O. Foundation creates spaces where youth play the game they love, learn, lead and grow-on and off the court. Our events bring together young people, families, and the community to build something bigger than ourselves.
What we do
Open Runs
Competitive basketball open runs that bring student-athletes together to perfect their craft, build confidence, and compete in a positive, high-energy environment. Each run includes certified referee’s, live DJ, free meal for each athlete and a space where community and basketball come together.
01Educational Experiences
Events and workshops designed to equip youth and families with knowledge, leadership skills, and real-life tools. Through conversations, guest speakers, and community programming, we explore topics like mental health, financial literacy, healthy relationships, cultural education and celebrations, civic engagement, fitness and nutrition, and career pathways in sports and beyond.
02Players Association
Modeled after professional players associations, this initiative creates a supportive space where student-athletes can connect, grow, and learn together. Centered on mentorship, mental wellness, and leadership development, the Players Association provides opportunities for athletes to engage in meaningful conversations, community service, and education. The goal is to equip student athletes with the knowledge, support, and voice they need to succeed both on and off the court.

What the Community is Saying
“The J.O. foundation means a lot, It’s helps my community while also involving my favorite sport of basketball. It’s so much more than just basketball too, it’s about family. The J.O. foundation and the Players Association always come together to form new friendships and different close bonds. The foundation always is looking out for the community and different ways to keep giving back to them.”
-Student Athlete
“Being a volunteer for the J.O. Foundation has been an amazing experience. It has given me the opportunity to meet so many people in the community especially the wonderful kids who represent the next generation.
Basketball is what initially brings us all together, but I’ve realized it’s so much more than the game. It creates opportunities to support one another, care for our community, and learn from the experiences we share along the way. Being apart of something that helps uplift and inspire people truly has been rewarding.“
-Volunteer

Through basketball, mentorship, and meaningful programming, they bring energy and opportunity to the Cole Community Center. We are grateful to have partnered with them for the past six years to support youth in our community.”
